"Urban" Chat Line Commercials..horrible, just horrible

This is totally random....but I have to speak out against these "urban" chat line commercials. I'm tired of folks reading scripts that are so unnatural. What is going on with the misplaced words and trying to sound too "urban"? Most Black folks I've met don't talk like this, and it's embarrassing... The Katie,Tina,Amy,Oprah, Sarah- Effect

Katie Couric, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Oprah Winfrey...Sarah Silverman...influenced sooo many people to choose Democrat this year.....I'd have to say that women didn't take a back seat to this election at all....It's nice to see everyone working together to push that vote for Obama.....(He came to my city, so exciting to listen to him in person!!!)

I waited until I got my life together a bit to talk to you, because I wanted to tell you good news. I wanted you to see I made it through school and was doing ok. I wanted to tell you thank you for being a friend, for being kind, for sharing a bit of yourself with me. I wanted to ask about your daughter and the people from work. What Movie Line Describes You?

So since I've been observing folks since 1982, I think it befitting that A Bronx Tale describe my mindset....actually a particular line from the movie,
"That's what it comes down to, availability...The people that see me everyday that are on my side, they feel safe because they know I'm close. That gives them more reason to love me. The people that want to do otherwise, they think twice because they know I'm close. That gives them more reason to fear me."
As a kid, I was never very competitive. I stayed on the outside, observing what went on inside. As an adult, I'm trying to survive..So, I now find myself on the inside, fighting for something to call my own...I picked this movie line because it describes a mindset where you have to have a strategy to make it, especially for the people that truly care about you. Some folks might not always have your best interest at heart though, as you're trying to reach your goals. So you have to be there to see it coming...to let them know you don't fold easily...

Observing folks since 1982...
Hello people..Back again with random musings..I was just thinking about folks and sometimes how they change over the years. A friend and I just reunited after a couple years of "falling out". We're in our twenties now, and been friends since we were kids. Basically she had drawn away from our group for various reasons and missed out on a lot of major things in our lives... like engagements, marriages, moving to new cities, new jobs and whatnot. Over the past couple years, there was some resentment because everytime we looked back at the things we all did together, she wasn't there much of the time. Now, we're cool again...but definitely not in the same way. She says there was a lot of nonsense happening in her life and she was messed up. I'm thinking, before the decent jobs came, there were crappy ones and sometimes no job at all....before the marriages, there were plenty of bad dates/boyfriends/whatever we're calling this relationship....Everybody was going through something...folks are still going through stuff....Why would you want to pull away from folks that went through the same things as you?
